An important part of Freemasonry is the social side. The members of the Lodge meet at their regular meetings during the year and enjoy discussions in the bar and at the Festive Board (the dinner which follows a Lodge meeting). We also arrange a number of social occasions. These might include lunchtime socials at a public house or a local restaurant in the area or an evening function in a restaurant.
The Worshipful Master usually hosts a social event which might take the form of a summer barbecue or outdoor function. The number of social occasions and the type of event tends to change from year to year depending on who is the Worshipful Master for that year. We have a Social Secretary who assists with the organisation of all of our social meetings.
Our Ladies are a vital part of our lives and we bring them along to our social meetings as often as we can. Some of the Ladies also meet up for their own social functions from time to time. Occasionally some of the Ladies develop an interest in The Craft themselves and have chosen to join the Order of Women Freemasons (OWF – see link).
Once in every year we organise a Ladies Festival which is a black-tie evening dinner function and is well supported by Lodge members and their guests. This is usually a grand occasion, the Ladies wear Ball Gowns and there is dancing and/or entertainment.
Social occasions are an important part of every Lodge and you will find that most of us also attend the social functions of other Lodges.
